Yes thats true, facebook lost 45 million members in just one day. It all happened because facebook didn’t took any action against a group on facebook which is holding a contest on 20th of may to draw pictures of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the name of freedom of speech. This act hurted feelings of millions of Muslims around the world. After raise in protests in Pakistan against this brutal act Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) finally banned facebook till 31st of may after a order from Lahore High Court. Its really surprising atleast for me that facebook didn’t took any action against this act which is extremely violent.

THE Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought reply from Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on a writ petition, seeking ban on Face-book, a social networking website, in the country for holding a competition of blasphemous caricatures.
Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the LHC issued a notice for Wednesday (today) on a petition filed by Ch Zulfiqar advocate on behalf of the Islamic Lawyers Movement. He said on the Face-book, a competition was announced on April 20 which would continue till May 20. He said in the competition it was asked to all the members of the website to create their caricatures to participate in the competition.
Ch Zulfiqar said according to the Article 2-A of the Constitution, it was illegal, as no practice against the religion could be allowed in the country. He said various countries had banned the website on account of having features against the injunctions of Islam. He said China, United Arab Emirates, Iran and Saudi Arabia had already imposed ban on it. He said there were 45 millions users of Face-book in Pakistan, and the PTA was responsible for proliferation of this website.
The petitioner questioned that the PTA had already blocked various websites in the country but why it was reluctant to ban Face-book. He submitted that the whole Muslim Umma was extremely concerned about the competition which was being carried out to hurt their religious feelings. He said some parliamentarians also raised voice against this blasphemous move in senate session few days ago.
He said students and various segments of the country had started protests in the country which would be harmful to the public property in the country.
The petitioner prayed to the court to issue directions to the PTA to put an immediate ban on the use of Face-book in the country.
